ABOUT (BIOGRAPHY)

Zenon Lallier is a photographer and creative director born in 1995.

Having grown up in the heart of the dense, dark Ardennes forest, Lallier has a deep curiosity about nature, and an even deeper one about human nature. He seeks to pierce through appearances, or, to the opposite, to exaggerate appearances in order to find out the real from the illusory in his subjects' social lives. Seeking to look at what is that wall that people build between themselves and society, thereby developing a powerful, dark and obsessive-like point of view (or aesthetic) in his portraiture.

After vaguely studying photography in Belgium between 2011 and 2013, Lallier set out to explore the world and the arts, embarking on a journey that began in London in 2013 at the age of 18 and did not started to work in photography until 11 years later.

Lallier lived for several years in London, São Paulo, New York, and Kochi (Kerala), working various jobs and experimenting with different forms of artistic expression; such as acting, stand-up comedy and painting before settling in Switzerland in 2018, having visited over 70 countries and worked in more than 10 of them. Initially pursuing studies in classical French literature, Lallier dedicated himself fully to photography at the start of 2024 while on a trip to Japan, creating portraits of people from all walks of life.

Lallier’s photography work is made primarily around the human subject, self-perception, obsessive perception, intense close-ups and intimate point of views.

Lallier does not seek to portray people as they appear in real life, but rather to capture them at that fine boundary between reality and the ideal (or dream) people love to create for themselves. It is an imaginary world of beauty and unlimited possibilities. A world far from the chaotic realities of the planet, which Lallier strongly abhors. A location where the line of perception lies: between truth and the false, honesty and dishonesty, somewhere between dream and reality. In a sense, his portraits capture a piece of reverie. Embedded  with desire and the need to feel the deeper meaning hidden within people or moments.

In 2026, he began developing larger-scale photographic projects, including series that capture intimate, secret moments in extraordinary environments. Today, Lallier continues his exploration of photography and art direction through his own studio, ZL STUDIO.

Lallier has photographed thousands of people and executed numerous projects alone, spanning from video as well as digital and analog photography. Driven by the need for more freedom and artistic independence, Lallier has deliberately turned down commercial work in order to produce his own creative work. Almost the entirety of all of the projects Lallier has worked on have been self-produced and self-published.

Lallier has also worked as a producer, helping emerging artists launch their careers by funding the creation of various artistic projects around the world.

Based in Switzerland, Lallier works on projects worldwide.
